glGetTexLevelParameter returns generic compressed format

Hello, We have been using texture compression with simple caching for quite a while according to the following procedure:a. if cache file doesn't exist1. upload the uncompressed image with glTexImage2D, specifying a generic compressed format (e.g. GL_COMPRESSED_RGB) as the internal format2. query the actual internal format with glGetTexLevelParameter3. get compressed image data with glGetCompressedTexImage4. store internal format and image data to a fileb. if cache file exists1. upload the

Dual GPU and Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR)

I install two GPU in my Windows 7 64 system, a Radeon HD 6800 and a Firepro W5000. The W5000 is used for OpenCL computations only, just the Radeon is connected to monitors. Anyway, after TdrDelay Windows restarted the GPU drivers. Is it possible to disable this behaviour? Remark: I installed the Firepro driver (13.352.1019-whql-firepro-windowsx32x64-retail) but the Control Center shows as driver version 14.10.1006-140417a-171099C.

How can I view a simple list of topic headers?

When I go to a "place", e.g. the OpenCL forum, I see a partially expanded topic list with the topic headers followed by snippets of the discussion. How can I see the more usual list of all topic headers in last activity order with new activity/unread posts in bold? Currently, there's only 5 topics per page and have to click "view more" then wait for the "cool" (read irritatingly slow) fade is massively tedious. Please help me with this because it's stopping me browsing the forums at any spe

Device name

Hi,I wonder how can I get a real device name using OpenCL? All I get now is "Radeon R9 200 series" but I need a full name, for example, "Radeon R9 280X". Neither CL_DEVICE_BOARD_NAME_AMD nor CL_DEVICE_NAME gives me what I need.Thnaks

Blender Cycles(Opencl on AMD GPUS)

Dear Opencl DeveloperWhy doesn't the AMD opencl compiler work with blender cycles?whenever i compile the blender cycles kernel, the system either crashes due to lack of memory, or takes too long to compile the blender cycles kernel(which thereafter comes up with the following error:opencl build failed:errors in consolecalclcompile failederror: creating kernel_ocl_path_trace failed!can't open file c:\tmp\5688.blend@ for writing:no file or directory ). When is AMD opencl compiler going to wor

Warnings when linking separately compiled objects.

I'm currently in the process of adapting my program to use the new features available with OpenCL 2.0 (esp. dynamic parallelism). For this I have to link several separately compiled kernel program objects together so that all kernels reside in the same name space. However I'm getting weird behavior and linker warnings even when linking two minimal program objects together:Warning: Input OpenCL binaries has inconsistent compile options. Using compile options from the first input binary!

Driver 14.9 gives R6025 pure virtual function calls

After updating to the drivers from Catalyst 14.9 I am getting not completely reproducible crashes. When calling SwapBuffers I sometimes get an "R6025 - pure virtual function call". The stack trace shows that there is a null function call somewhere in OpenGL32.dll->atio6axx.dll->user32.dll. This does not happen on NVidia or Intel machines. It does not crash every time and not always at the same time. The problem was not there with previous drivers, but I had them some time ago with old

OpenCL 2.0 for FirePro developers is here!

Hello OpenCL developers,AMD has an early version of our OpenCL 2.0 driver available for people to start exploring the new API.  We are at the Alpha stage of the APP SDK which supports OpenCL 2.0 and are inviting qualified developers to help evaluate and provide feedback.  Interested developers must have a recent W or S series AMD FirePro graphics card and a legitimate business need.  If you are interested, please request access to the Alpha by filling out the application here http

Teapot sample runs independently but stalls with "OpenCL-OpenGL sharing is inactive" message when started from CodeXL

CodeXL looks amazing. My excitement about leaving printf debugging behind is matched only by my disappointment that I can't get CodeXL debugging working  The sample teapot app is happily puffing plenty of steam when the app is started independently. However opening CodeXL, clicking the 'load the Teapot Sample' link, then 'Debug > Start Debugging' results in the teapot app launching then hanging with a status message "OpenCL-OpenGL sharing is inactive". The "Debugged process events" seems

OpenCLâ„¢ 2.0 is here!

Unfortunately, it is from Intel. When will AMD release OpenCL 2.0 support for AMD APU? OpenCL™ 2.0 is here! Download the Release 2 of Intel® SDK for OpenCL™ Applications 2014
