The iPod is dead.

The iPod is no longer on Apple's homepage, nor is the Apple TV (or iTunes for that matter). The page can still be accessed from the store, but it's no longer important to Apple.

EDIT: Just noticed it's under the Music tab. Maybe there's still hope for new iPods after all.

iPod Touch 4th Generation: How do you revive a completely DEAD iPod Touch?

I have been fixing iPods for my own kids and their friends. I am able to fix most of them, but some just have me stumped. Some are completely dead. How do I tell what is wrong with them? By completely dead, I mean iTunes won't recognize them and they won't power on. I have tried the trick where you short the positive battery terminal to ground. I have tried holding down Power and Home buttons for 15 seconds. Is there an easy way to tell if the problem is the 30 pin connector before you re...

The iPod is dead, long live the iPod

With the Classic receiving the marching orders last month, we already knew that the iPod's days were numbered. But Apple made that more official in its latest earnings call, confirming that as of Q1 2015 the iPod will appear in future sales reports under "Other products".An insignificant bit of spring cleaning for Apple perhaps, but for the rest of us it shows that Cupertino just isn't focused on the iPod anymore, as it throws its music player in the draw with headphones and accessories....

iPod Classic: Dead iPod- NOT the battery

iPod won't turn on, regardless of whether or not it is plugged into anything. The battery life is still in really good shape and was fully charged at the time it stopped working. Had walked to work with it on, left it in pocket, took off coat, then took out iPod to use in an audio system and it wouldn't turn on. Seems improbable it could randomly die in 5 minutes... ⟐ Commented December 22, 2014 at 2:14 am -0700...

Google Glass isn’t dead: project graduates from X Labs as iPod visionary is placed in charge

Some non-believers might be writing Google Glass off at this point, but Google thinks it’s far from dead. In fact, the company today announced that it was “graduated” from Google X’s experimental labs and is getting the spotlight in its own little division. That not enough to convince you they’re going full steam ahead with Glass? The person they put in charge of the project is none other than Tony Fadell. You may remember his name as the founder and creator of th...

iPod 3rd Generation: Can't decide if the battery is dead or the HDD?

Hello, I just found my old 3rd gen iPod and wanted to use it again. I have the dreadful apple logo and folder with exclamation mark flashing after pluging it in the firewire charger. I tried the diagnostic mode, and it doesn't seem to pass the HDD scan, I launched it and it stayed all lit up with just HDD scan on the screen for a while and started heating up. It's been 30 min and the test isn't over yet... but I remember when I stopped using my ipod 4 years ago I had issues with the battery. ...

iPod Touch 4th Generation: Black, overheated, now... Dead?

Hey, so recently, some of the charging pins in my ipod 4th gen got bent and broke. The device still charged and worked, it just wouldent play music through most speakers fully (using the charging connector). Anyways, that wasnt the main problem. The main problem is, this morning i pluged it into my car, and it worked (lock screen lit up), after leaving it for 10 or so min, I tried to hit the home button.... Nothing... I tried everything, but nothing lit up. After about 20-40 min of sitting in m...

iPod Touch 3rd Generation 32GB: Dead, wont turn on or connect

I got this 3rd gen touch from a coworker who said it was working fine and then it was dead when he tried to use it. I tried all the tricks online about resetting, holding in buttons for ten seconds etc. but nothing. it isn't recognized when plugged in or anything and it gets pretty hot when plugged in. So I changed the battery, still the same as before. I read where there is a power management ic that could be bad and that appears to be about where it is getting hot too. I have the board out and...

Dead Battery

Alright, I think my battery might be dead. I fell asleep last night, and it must of had at least 50% or more (I'm thinking it could have been like 70%), and when I woke up the phone had been shut off with 1% Battery life. And it was sleeping most of the time with the screen off! Now I know most of you would say get a new battery, but I'm planning on getting a phone next week (hopefully) so I'm not dropping 30-50 bucks on a battery for 1 week. Is there anything else I can do in the meantime t...
