Paying myself salary or dividend?

Hi,

I have recieved an offer for contunial contract work on a set day rate.

I have been advised to set up a Ltd Company that will invoice the client for my time.

I will then be the only employee of said Ltd Company.

What is the best way to work this? Pay myself a small basic, and other amount through dividends? What way will work out as giving me the most take home pay, but obviously 100% above board.

Kind regards

Final Salary Pension - is it worth paying into AVCs?

Hi, Looking for some advice, having read something interesting in another thread... I am 25, and have been paying into a large public sector final salary scheme for the last 5 years or so. Over the past couple of years, I have also paid some of my salary into AVCs. I am not a higher-band tax payer (although possibly will be within a year or two). Previously I had thought paying into AVCs was a bit of a no-brainer (if affordable), due to tax relief, but in the "should I worry about a pens...

Salary Over payment / Paying Back

Work havec**ked up my pay this month. Got paid £3k extra I wasn’t entitled to ascompensation due to change in company pension scheme. So the HR dept are goingto do some calculations to see what needs to be paid back. They need to sortout NI & Tax payments as they are both higher than they would be. I agreewith this but how do I check they are getting the correct amount back and notdoing me over? I will be ableto pay back by cheque or installments but leave in June. Should I pay back...

Need dividend paying investments

I have about £10K sitting in the Virgin index tracker fund (PEP), which I haven't added to for years now. Could really do with putting that money into something that would generate a bit of income. Thinking about dividend paying investment trusts - primarily City of London and Merchants Trust. My questions are: 1. Is it fairly straightforward to withdraw money from a tracker fund? 2. What is the best way of going about buying shares in an investment trust? I have always had a preference...

Thoughts on paying for everything?

been with my gf for 6 months now and at the beginning, I would pay and then tell her "Get me next time" and then next date she would pay... and ever since then we just always were equal with meals. 6 months later she took me out with her friends, and when I got her full tab the first time, the next tab for lunch she got it, and then her friends made a comment saying "Wow, you paid for that? My boyfriend pays for every meal!" then it got my gf thinking that I wasn't a generou...

How to earn Asia Miles with HK salary tax - question on an old post

Hi all, New member here. I read an old post with an idea on how to earn Asia Miles with HK salary tax: pay tax with CCB dual currency card, and then pay CCB through HSBC Platinum VISA - only requirement being that one must have a HSBC bank account. I have two questions: 1 - couldn't one pay the tax with any credit card, and then pay with HSBC Platinum VISA? It feels like the Asia Miles will only accrue to the HSBC card transaction. 2 - taking this one step further, shouldn't everyone just p...

Child Benefit charge and salary sacrifice

Hi, I earn £51,000 a year but pay 10% of my salary into a pension through salary sacrifice. I have one child for which I claim child benefit for. Do I need to file a Self Assessment return with HMRC as my notional salary is above the Child Benefit Charge limit (even though my official pre tax salary is under it, so won't need to pay anything)? Thanks Malcolm ...

Advice on how to proceed on paying back debts

Hi all, I have just under £9,000 or debt through a few lenders and agencies and would like to start paying this back. Some of the debts date back to 2009. I am not on any debt program and never have been (nor have I ever been bankrupt). I am currently working with a company on a heavily reduced salary for the first few months to see how things go (this is down to their financial situation not mine!) so I have a very limited amount of cash to live on at the moment (£100 per week). I understand ...

Paying with Disney Gift Cards

I just made a partial payment for our cruise using Disney gift cards. I was told to keep the physical cards until my cruise was over. They said that if anything happened and we needed a refund that the refund would occur in the same manner that payment occurred. I.E. if I paid with a credit card the refund would go to my credit card but if I paid with Disney gift cards, the refund would go to the Disney gift cards. I am sure most of you knew this, but I do not remember reading it in my limited ...

Does salary affect match making?

We all know fighter salaries go down significantly after a loss. Do you guys think this affects matchmaking decisions? Nate Diaz is probably getting a good salary (he held out for so long with contract negotiations). Diaz(#15) is now scheduled to fight Rafael Dos Anjos(#3). Odds are obviously heavily in Dos Anjos's favor. I feel like sometimes the UFC will give these guys high salaries and then throw them to the wolves so they're forced to either A)prove their worth, or B)get their paycheck...
