Tuna distance question, Fishing

Running for tuna is not my thing. Been there done that, and enjoyed. The questions I have about distance, how far are the target spots you all talk about? The pig, the corners, the 125 line? I did some poking around searching, but haven't been able to come up with much, other than the names. Just curious about putting rough distances to the conversations that are fun to read through.

tuna troll question, Fishing

I like to run 4 troll rods. 2 deep down the middle (Xraps) and the 2 in corners trolling clones. I do OK. Keeps things simple for casting out a 5th on the slide. Would it be better trolling 4 of the same lure? wondering if mixing up a small spread of only 4 rods just isn't enough to trigger a predatory response ...

Umatilla permit question, Fishing

I've never hunted Umatilla before and was wondering if you have to have the reservation card they send in the mail or if the email showing your pick # is sufficient. Im guessing that that card showing your draw # is the "permit" that they are talking about in the regs. I have misplaced the card they sent and would hate to get all the way over there and not be able to hunt because I don't have the card. Can anyone help me out on what I will need to hunt at Umatilla? ...

Interested in a depth finder and gps for my wood drift boat. What angle can you get on a side scan. Would it allow you to determine the depth of a drift while you are to the side of the drift at casting distance (30') or so? Can the transducer shoot through a wood bottom if it is epoxied to the inside. ...

Newbee 2 Tuna, Fishing

Hi Guys & Girls, I have fished in the ocean since I was very young guy. Always loved it. Mostly Salmon Fishing, with a few charters for bottom fish & some Halibut trips. I was introduced to Tuna fishing a few years ago by a friend and client. I was hooked for sure the first time he took me out! Thanks Big Mac of Deep Down Baits... I've been shopping for a real ocean boat ever since. I finally found the perfect boat for me, set just how I wanted it. Thank You Ron & Dora Simpson for se...

World series home run question., Fishing

I'm a bit of a baseball Stat junkie. I find it ironic in this post-steroid era that the Royals are in the series without a player even hitting 20 home runs in the regular season. Ive tried a few google searches but cant find the last time that has happened. Can someone help me out? I'm thinking it might be way back in the dead ball era pre-Ruth. ...

Question for you 20 ga. upland hunters, Fishing

I was at Sportsman's the other week in Bend and picked up a few boxes of 20 ga. for upland season. I always buy 1 oz. #6 for chukar/huns which is primarily what I hunt. I have boxes and boxes of shells but I tend to always buy a few when I find a decent price. I picked up a few boxes of Estate 1 oz. #6, and a few boxes of Remington. I got home and realized that I didn't pay attention and the Rems were actually 7/8 oz. of #6. Both have roughly the same velocity at 1220 FPS give or take. The R...

Wall Tent Stove Question, Fishing

I am trying out a new setup this elk season. I have a 15 x 18 Bravo tent with 15 x 10 enclosed cook shack attached. This is essentially two tents with separate frames abutting one another into a 28 x 15 configuration. I am having a custom stove made right now (Joe in Colton) for the tent proper and intend to run my mid-sized Utah cylinder stove in the cook shack portion, so I will be running two stoves if necessary. Both will go out the sidewall as the entire operation is also covered with a...
