Using water direct from the tap during PWC. What do you think?

Hi Guys
I have seen some YouTube videos on water changes, where one refills the tank with water DIRECT from the tap and then dosing the necessary Seachem Prime ( water conditioner) into the tank as well.

Is this possible when using Singapore water and what are the pros and cons to such a procedure.

Here I'm asking specifically for a planted tank with the usual population of Tetras, RCS and Amano shrimps and a water change of 50%. I do have a chiller attached to the tank.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers :-)

Hot water not flowing from mixer tap

Hi, About 6 months ago we had a new mixer tap installed in our kitchen. It worked great for the last 5 or so months but recently the flow of hot water has dropped dramatically. All other hot water taps in the house work great, just this one has a problem. I looked under the counter and saw two 'taps' supplying hoses to the mixer tap. Both are fully open. The hot supply works, I can close it and no water emerges but if I fully open it. We still only get a trickle. Any ideas what might be wrong...

Water stop tap before going on holiday

Hi Fellow MoneySavers Just a quick question about how best to plan this. Going on holiday shortly and wanted to ask what people do with their stop taps? I been advised to turn off my stop tap, but had one question which I forgot to ask the person who recommended it. My plan is to let the central heating on the combi boiler come on for 1 hour during the morning and 1 hour during the evening each day. If I was to leave the central heating on to do this, if I turn off the stop tap could this a...

Toilet Bowl Water Direct Exposure to the Blood

While this might seem a rather obnoxious situation but I hope there are people out there to help me out. I was on an international trip in a country with high traffic of international travelers and was staying in a 3 star hotel in a nice clean environment. 4th day into my stay in the hotel I dropped a fairly expensive pen in the toilet bowl. Call me an idiot but I thought it would be embarrassing to call in the room service. So I decided to pull it out myself. I carefully put on a plastic shop...

Kitchen Appliance: Why did my kitchen mixer tap suddenly start pouring out water?

Homebase 'Leonie' mixer tap bought 2.5 years ago for £130. Top quality! Suddenly, without anyone touching it and with both taps turned off water started pouring out of the spout. Have had to isolate the cold water supply to stop the flow which is about 80% of the normal mains flow rate. How can a modern ceramic valve fail in this catastrophic manner? Is this a design fault and will a valve change be worth it? ⟐ Answer edited December 23, 2014 at 4:09 am -0700...

Galaxy s4 audio water tap hiss in recorded video

Hi I have a i9500 which I have enjoyed its high res images and full HD detailed images in 13MP (ozcan rom capability). Everything works flawlessly in my s4. Am not so sure what the problem could be when it comes to the recording of sound in video and voice recording. I have been scrounging the net for a possible solution but realized that the s4 has a design flaw of pop and sounds when video recording. I do experience those but negligible. The sound quality recording is very good on the s4. M...

would like to switch over to full time direct water heater

Hello I'm new here and a new home owner. My house has a direct tankless propane water heater that we run during the warm months. During the cold months we switch it over to our oil burning furnace because we only have the one water tank. The furnace seems to constantly be running just to keep the water warm all day. Which doesn't seem energy-efficient or cost effective at all. This spring I would like to find a way to use the Rinnai hotwater heater all year around and the oil burning furnace jus...

Is there a gadget/invention that lets you fit a new Water stop tap while Water is on?

Hi all This is for my work colleague who tells me "My hubby is going round the bend because he wants to fit a new Kitchen but the stop tap is seized and jammed solid. No matter how much force he puts on it won't twist. Any more force and he knows he will snap it and cause a major leak. He has looked around for a way to fit a new stop tap while the Water is on but can't find anything" Does anybody have a suggestion? Apparently they have contacted United Utilities who won't tell...
