Yosemite locks MS Word

I recently upgraded to Yosemite. For word processing I use MS Office for Mac 2008. Since upgrading I find all my Word documents locked and am unable to edit them. The only way I have around found this problem is to open them in Pages, edit and convert the document back to Word. There must be an easier way of getting around this problem. Is there any way of unlocking these? This does not happen to Excel spreadsheets.

Yosemite causing MS Word 2008 to crash with Track Changes

Hey folks, I downloaded Yosemite today and now I cannot open any word documents that are tracking changes for editing purposes. I have opened the document on another computer, saved it with unchecking "Reveal markup" and I can open the document now, but I need to be able to see the edits from tracking changes. Any ideas what could be causing this? It was fine yesterday, so has to be related to updating to Yosemite. Help... :) ...

Microsoft word doesn't work in Yosemite

I have upgraded to Yosemite from my Mountain lion early today just because i couldnt use Microsoft office in the previous version. I expected it would work in this upgrade, but it is depressing to see that Yosemite too has the same issue of showing me "installation encountered an error" and "a version of the software required to install this update is not found" after using different versions of Office. Pls help me solve this. ...

iMac Running Yosemite Locks Up

Running a heavily used 2009 27 iMac, with 16GB RAM, i7, and a Crucial MX100 SSD. The Mac just COMPLETELY locked up. Only the mouse would work, though the cursor wouldn't change appropriately dependent upon what was being hovered over on screen. Had a few Safari tabs open, Xcode, iBooks, Mail, and Activity Monitor. Never did this before. Running Yosemite. Had to hold down power button to turn off then turn back on; even Command + Option + Esc didn’t work. Any ideas? Anyone else have this ...

Yosemite vs Word for Mac 11 vs Dropbox

I recently purchased a new iMac 27" with Yosemite. I encounter a problem when I import a jpeg from a Dropbox folder into Word for Mac 2011. Word freezes or becomes very slow to respond, the activity monitor shows Word at greater that 100% CPU time. I've deleted and reloaded Word, verified I have all the latest versions of Word and Yosemite and tested all the memories. If I put the same jpeg file on the desktop and import to Word there is no problem. I've had 2 calls with Apple and o...

Can't save new Word Quick Style Sets in Yosemite?

I've been having a problem saving new quick style sets in Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 that seems to have started around the time I updated to Yosemite. I'm a heavy user of Word's advanced editing and formatting features, and not being able to save new quick style sets has been slowing me down for a couple of months now. The problem seems to be that write access to the user quick style sets folder seems to have somehow been blocked. In the past when I clicked on the Quick Style Set icon in the W...

Yosemite and Word are not compatable

Why is Word shutting down since I just upgraded to Yosemite? I am ready to throw this Mac out the window and go back to a PC. Does anyone have a quick solution to this problem? while I am writing papers and it just shuts down and forces me to reopen and save the retrieved document under another name. Not only is my desktop littered with re-saved documents, I also loose everything not saved up to that point. ...

Install, Setup and Troubleshooting • Calc Locks Randomly

Been struggling with this since before I installed the 4.1.1 update. I guess I was overly optimistic that the upgrade would solve the problem. When an update didn't do it, I installed 4.1.1 fresh, after an uninstall. No difference.I can not seem to find a pattern that is consistant. The duration between lock-ups is completely random, as far as I can tell.Sometimes it locks up while I am entering (text or numeral) data into cells. It has locked up when I have many cells highlighted, while I am...

Apple to Unveil New iPads, Retina iMacs, and OS X Yosemite on October 16

http://www.macrumors.com/2014/10/03/...nt-october-16/ I'd like to see a standalone USB fingerprint scanner for iMacs & PC's, but I'll probably be disappointed. Maybe even a fingerprint scanner & mouse combo. A mouse with dual buttons and scroll wheel, that would replace their Magic Mouse. ...
